ECoR to run 13 pairs of special trains to handle festive season rush

Bhubaneswar, Oct 24 (UNI) To handle the festive season rush effectively, East Coast Railway has made elaborate arrangements by running 13 pairs of Special Trains comprising 232 trips from Khurda Road Division towards different parts of the country, aiming to carry more than 2.5 lakh passengers and reduce rush in regular trains.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure) of Khurda Road Division, Subhrajyoti Mandal, informed that special focus has been laid on managing the heavy rush of passengers travelling towards various destinations such as Dhanbad & Patna in Bihar, Yesvantpur (Bangalore) in Karnataka, Udhna (Surat) in Gujarat, Nizamuddin in Delhi, Shalimar and Sealdah in West Bengal, Virangana Laxmibai in Madhya Pradesh, and Hyderabad & Cherlapalli in Telangana.
The Special Trains include Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad, Puri–Patna (02 pairs), Bhubaneswar–Yesvantpur, Puri–Udhna, Puri–Nizamuddin, Puri–Shalimar, Puri–Bhanjapur/Baripada, Khurda Road–Udhna/Surat, Malatipatapur–Sealdah, Puri–Virangana Laxmibai (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar New–Hyderabad, and Brahmapur–Cherlapalli.
Apart from these, regular trains are also being augmented with additional coaches based on the review of passenger demand and travel patterns.
Under the Amrit Samvaad initiative, passengers are being directly engaged to share feedback on cleanliness, amenities, and crowd management. Awareness campaigns, queue management systems, and enhanced deployment of staff are being carried out to ensure smooth boarding and deboarding at major stations.
Ticket Checking Staff, Commercial Inspectors, and other Commercial Department personnel, in coordination with Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Operational Teams, are actively managing passenger movement and maintaining order at major railway stations across Khurda Road Division.
To ensure smooth handling of the festive rush, these teams are strategically deployed at entry and exit points, foot over-bridges, platforms, and circulating areas. Their combined efforts are focused on guiding passengers, preventing overcrowding, assisting senior citizens and differently-abled passengers, and ensuring the safety and comfort of all travelers during the peak travel period.
Khurda Road Division and East Coast Railway are also conducting crowd management at major Stations at Bhubaneswar, Puri, Brahmapur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, and Palasa.
